Hair Growth Hacks

Hello ! Long time no talk! It’s been a while guys! I’ve been consumed in a lot of other things in my life right now and i’ve neglected my blog! I have been planning a lot of posts for over the summer, so expect some consistency again! Anyways, HAIR GROWTH! I am on a mission over the summer to grow out my hair as much as possible. Hair growth can be difficult depending on your genes, among other things. I’ve done a lot of research, and today I’m going to be sharing with you what I’ve discovered, and what I will be making a conscious effort to do in my own life, attempting to grow out my hair. Starting with: NO MORE BLEACHING:( This is kind of sad, considering I really really wanted to lighten my hair again for the summer, but I want healthy hair, not fried hair. Let’s get to the post:

Hair Trims

Contrary to the popular belief, hair trims will actually help with growing your hair! Obviously cutting your hair isn’t making it any longer, however it’s ensuring that split ends don’t continue to split up your hair follicle causing breakage, which means shorter hair. Routine trims will do a lot for you. Just be sure to go to someone you can trust that’s not scissor happy. I’ve had my fair share of stylists that take WAY too much off and they scar you for life!

Protein hair masks

Just like your body, your hair needs protein to grow. Especially, if you’re like me and have bleached ends, protein is your best friend! It’s vital that you start using a protein hair mask AT LEAST once a week. I try to do it twice a week. You would be surprised what it will do for you. I have the best protein hair mask that I recommend. Literally, I SWEAR by this stuff, and no this is not sponsored and i’m not being paid in any way to say this. You ever just genuinely love a product? This stuff makes your hair really soft and shiny, plus it smells like you’re at the salon.

Coconut Oil

Like all problems in your life, the answer is coconut oil. No, but seriously. Coconut oil is an amazing thing to add to your hair-care routine. I usually take some coconut oil and warm it up, apply it all over my hair and let it sit for 30 minutes-1 hour. The longer you can leave it in the better! Back in the day, I’d sleep in it, but now that I sleep next to my boyfriend, he’s not a fan of a greasy headed girl in bed with him, haha! Therefore, I’d suggest applying shampoo to your hair before you ever get in the shower to wash it out, this will ensure your hair doesn’t get greasy once you wash it out. I have learned this after many failed attempts, the key is to shampoo your hair before water ever comes near it. Then shower like normal. The benefits of coconut oil are truly endless, but that’s another post all together.

I have a massive tub of coconut oil that I bought on Amazon, here is the link: Coconut Oil

Only Shampoo Every Other Shower

Shampoo is a wonderful thing! However, it’s easy to over-use and if you actually care about the health of your hair, you’ll give it a rest. Shampoo cleanses your hair while removing product build up. While doing this, it also removes the healthy natural oils your scalp has. These oils aid in hair growth! So if you’re washing your hair everyday or even every other day and using shampoo each time, you’re leaving no time for your scalps natural oil to luster on your scalp and work it’s magic! If you find your hair getting greasy, simply get yourself some dry shampoo and call it a day. I wash my hair every other day, but it’s my goal to shampoo it now only 1-2 times per week.

Sulfates are terrible. You’ve heard it from your hair stylist, and now you’re gonna hear it from me! I haven’t used a sulfate shampoo/conditioner in years and I would never go back. I don’t even know why they make sulfates in hair care products anymore! Sulfates are a skin irritant and they dry out your hair and scalp. Most people with dandruff, are frequent users of sulfate products. Sulfates, like shampoos in general, strip away the scalps natural oils. The shampoo I use is by Nu Skin. It’s a shampoo that aids in hair growth.

The Inversion Method

This is crazy. I never thought I’d be on here sharing scalp massages for hair growth! But so many people have done this and have actually seen significant results from it! I’ve done some research, so rest assured what i’m sharing with you could actually make a difference in your life! Here’s how it works, you can do this with or without an oil. If you choose to apply oil to your scalp, I’d suggest coconut oil, castor oil, or avocado oil. You can even add a few drops of essential oil to promote relaxation during this exercise. Apply the oil generously to your scalp. Your heart needs to be above your head in order for this to work. (Hence: inversion)  I suggest laying down on a bed with your head flipped over, spend 5 minutes massaging the oil into your scalp as the blood rushes to your head. Take deep breaths and relax your mind while doing this, consider it like a form of meditation. If you repeat this everyday you should see increased hair growth little by little every week! Crazy huh? Let me know if you try it out!
