Summer is officially here, which is why I am bringing you this super easy hair tutorial for soft summer waves! This is my go-to look and it only takes about 10 minutes from start to finish. I want to give a huge thank you to Nature Box for sponsoring this post and creating the best shampoo & conditioner for shiny soft hair all summer long!
I start out with clean hair that has been washed and blow dried. Looks a little crazy at first but don’t worry, we’re gonna give this hair some life!
If you’re looking for an affordable shampoo and conditioner that will help give you bouncy, soft, shiny waves, I highly recommend checking out Nature Box 100% Cold Pressed Coconut Oil collection from Publix. This line uses cold pressed coconut oil, which gives your hair the moisture it’s lacking in the summertime. If you’re into products that smell really good, then this line was made for you! Imagine you’re sitting on the beach watching the sunset with a tropical drink in your hand, your skin is sun-kissed and the waves are crashing. That is the only way I can describe the smell! It’s amazing.
For this tutorial make sure you have some butterfly hair clips and a 1 & 1/4 inch curling wand.
First, you’ll want to spritz your hair with some heat protectant and comb through to evenly distribute it. Clip half of your hair up using a butterfly hair clip. These clips have made my life so much easier when it comes to styling. They hold up a lot of hair and keep it out of your face when you’re working in different sections.
Begin by taking 1-2 inch sections and wrap them evenly around the barrel. I lay the hair flat around the first wrap and then twist it slightly around the second or third time depending on the length of your hair. The key to this hairstyle is leaving out the ends! Make sure you leave at least an inch or two out at the end of each piece and don’t hold it on the barrel for too long, because we want the curls to fall out and become waves. That’s what makes this hairstyle look so effortless.
Continue doing this with every piece. I curl in the same direction, away from my face all the way around my entire head. Some people prefer to switch the direction of each curl for more volume, however, I like the way the waves fall better when you curl in the same direction. Once you finish the lower half of your hair, take out the butterfly clip and continue to take sections out and curl those until you have curled your entire head. Be sure to put more focus in the pieces laying on the top, since these are what people see more. If you want the same look as mine, part your hair slightly to the side.
After you finish, the curls will be very tight. You will want to flip your head over and shake out the curls. I run my fingers through my hair to break up and loosen the curls, so they look more natural.
The end result looks a little something like this! Ta-Da! The final step is to spray some medium-hold hairspray to hold the curls and finish it off with Nature Box shine spray. Your hair will not only smell delicious but look shiny and vibrant too!
